Five months ago, YT MOB enduro athlete Kasper Woolley was forced to hit the sidelines after a severe training injury saw him sustain a Grade 5 spleen injury. While surgeons saved his spleen, it left him with a lengthy recovery period that saw him unable to train for the foreseeable future, ending his chances of EDR success in 2023.
“The recovery process has not been the most fun so far. I spent ten days in the hospital getting a couple of procedures done to save half my spleen. So far, it’s felt more like a bad illness than a regular injury. I will be able to return to low-risk activity hopefully soon, but just have to go by feel.“
“Unfortunately, I am at high risk to do further damage if I were to fall on it again for at least 3-5 months. It is going to be a frustrating one because I am going to feel fine months before I am safe to ride normally again.” – Kasper Woolley
Make no mistake, this guy is a certified weapon when it comes to mindset and recovery, and it sure hasn’t dampened his spirit. Kasper hits the track in Loudenvielle this weekend, and we can’t wait to see him in action.
To welcome Kappy’ back to racing, the enduro team (Jack Moir & Christian Textor) opted to swap out their Capra’s to the Deep Yellow colour way that Kasper aimed to race on this season.
“It feels so good to be back at a World Cup! It’s the first time in the MOB pits for me as-well. It’s a bit overwhelming getting straight to it after being sidelined for so long but I’m fired up to get on the race track!” – Kasper Woolley
“I am trying to not focus on any expectations, but I always expect a lot from myself. The pace is still not where I want it to be, but I’m going to keep chipping away until I get there.” – Kasper Woolley
Welcome back Kasper! Stoked to have you in the MOB pits.
