When developing YT’s first gravel bike, we wanted to avoid following the herd and conforming to the norm. We set out to push the boundaries of what a gravel bike can do, where it can take you and defy conventions along the way. We knew it would be a winner, and now we have the badge to prove it. We’re stoked to announce the YT SZEPTER wins Design & Innovation Award 2023.
Don’t be fooled by its sleek and contemporary frame; this gravel bike has the heart and stamina to conquer the most demanding off-road routes. When it came to crafting the soul of the SZEPTER, Founder & CVO of YT Industries, Markus Flossmann, said there was “no messing around, no bullsh*t. The SZEPTER is made for the rough stuff and built for speed and fun. It’s a gravel bike for mountain bikers. Whether tarmac, trail, or gravel, you decide where to go because the SZEPTER lies in your hand.”
Established in 2013, the Design & Innovation Award (DI.A) tests everything from bikes to components, accessories and more from the bike industry. Through rigorous real-world trials carried out by a team of international journalists, professional test riders, and industry experts. Their goal is to identify the use of innovative technologies, performance excellence and user benefits, amongst other criteria. Here’s what the awarding body had to say about the YT SZEPTER:
“With the SZEPTER, you get a gravel bike that’s innovative in its approach, is fairly priced, and performs convincingly for mountain bikers who want a drop bar bike for all kinds of adventures. The proven technology, like the suspension fork up front and the suspended dropper seat post, offers the kind of comfort and reserves that mountain bikers expect.
